Snowdon or Otherwise Engaged for Rachel
As days go Saturday the
28th of July started out as quite an ordinary day for our Rachel
Harris when she set off to do the Snowdon International Race with her father
Chris.
The Harris family have
quite a tradition in the Snowdon run with her grandfather having received an
award for running it 25 years on the trot. However due to ill health he can
no longer continue and so Rachel has taken it up on his behalf and did
the run for him.
Rachel is always up for a challenge and is no stranger
to sitting in a cold tub of baked beans or having maggots poured over her
head for charity.
However even Rachel was
stopped in her tracks by what happened at the summit of Snowdon.
Unbeknown to Rachel who
should be waiting at the top of the mountain was her boyfriend who had
secretly positioned himself to welcome her when she reached the
summit.
As Rachel approached
him gasping for breath, fatigued and sweating profusely, he threw his arms
around her, gave her a big hug, got down on his knees and asked her to marry
him and produced a ring.
Rachel was so gob
smacked that she said YES.!!!!!
She put the ring on
turned around and ran off down the mountain to complete
the race.
”Did
he really ask me to marry him and I said yes?” Rachel asked her dad Chris. ”I
am afraid so” he said.
Rachel promptly floated
all the way back to the finish on cloud 9
Most people get
medals at the end of a race. Not many get rings! aaaaaarh
