Sandwell
Kicks Off Race for Life SeriesOver four thousand women from across the Black Country and West Midlands
donned their running shoes and took part in this years Cancer Research UK's
Race For Life at Sandwell Park.
The race was again well supported by dozens of Dudley Ladies all running
for their own particular reasons on what was a blisteringly hot and very
emotional day.
Star of the day was Jayne Wothers, who has just completed her course of
chemotherapy following her second battle with breast cancer and she was
cheered and supported all the way around by everyone that knew her.
Where people finished in the race wasn't important, it was just the fact
that you were there to support Jayne, Raquel or your loved ones and do your
bit for them.
These popular events, which allow women to run, jog or walk a 5Km route,
hope to return over a £1 million from six regional races.
The next race in the series will be at Wolverhampton's West Park on June 20 and 21. Each
race will start at 7.30pm and a total of 4000 women are again expected to
participate.
The second race will be at Shugborough Country Estate, Stafford,
on June 26 and 27 at 7.30pm
