London Marathon 2008

Dudley Ladies were again well represented at this years London Marathon with all runners runners achieving personal bests.

Marion Willetts writes:- "I finished the London Marathon on Sunday in a time of 5hrs 41mins crossing the line with Jonathon Pearce the TV sports reporter. I was hoping to run a little faster, but the congestion caused by the number of runners slowed my time. All that apart I enjoyed the occasion and finished uninjured, and it has proven to be a great opportunity to raise money for a worthwhile charity, Thank you very much for your kind sponsorship and words of support  they are most appreciated. So far I have managed to raise in excess of £1100.00 for the West Midlands LUPUS Group and the money is still coming in. This would not have been possible without your kind generosity, so many thanks again and best wishes.

Kay Shotton writes:- Just a quickie to say thanks to everybody for the support and tips over the past months! The marathon was fantastic. We wore those white overalls that you can rip off at the beginning to keep warm as suggested, and we had a few 'has there been a murder' as we did look like a bit Silent Witness-esk! But it was such a good day and everyone was in high spirits.

The last 4 miles I was personally praying for death, and despite panicking at mile 2 when I lost Marion and Jacky we were reunited just before mile 9. I had at least 4 rhinos pass me by and a camel nearly knocked me flying but I would do it again in a heart beat (if it wasn't for the pressure of fundraising). I was expecting it to put me off running  and it really hasn't. I didn't need my ipod once the crowds were that uplifting and supportive. The training and copious amounts of pasta & gallons of water, for the past week, i feel, paid off ! 5hrs 40mins later i had sprinted (not sure how) across the line looking like hell on two legs.

Any tips for a quick recovery? My shoulder blades and thighs are the worst today.

Lucy Cox writes:- Had an amazing weekend doing the London, I enjoyed it even more than last year!!

Also if anyone's up for doing Tough Guy in the summer we've got a group from uni doing it and the more that get involved the better!!  We've set up a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11340812374&ref=mf
