Women's 10k - A Stroll in the Park for Madeleine
Over 2500 runners started this years Liverpool Women's
10K run on Sunday 13th May from Sefton Park in Liverpool, with many using it
to highlight the plight of missing toddler Madeleine McCann as they ran.
The four year old was snatched from her bed while on
holiday in Portugal's Praia da Luz resort on 3rd May.
Ru
nners
in the race wore yellow ribbons or Tee-shirts with Madeleine's picture on to
show their support for the McCann family
Fitness coach Nicola Gill who is a friend of Madeleine's
mother, Liverpool born GP Kate McCann, flew back from Portugal for the run.
and conducted the mass aerobics warm-up for the
race.
Dudley Ladies again took a coachload of eager
participants and were lucky enough to enjoy brilliant weather conditions
whilst the rest of the country got soaked.
First
six runners home for the club were Isobel Stavenuiter, Petra Grigat-Bradley,
Amy Spilsbury-Butler, Jo Jones, Judy Boyle and Jacky Fellows, who were all
presented with bottles of bubbly by Rita as recognition for their
achievements.
Just missing out on the prizes were Dolores Nellaney,
Karen Perry, Gloria Bell, Joan Cox, Karen Collins, Denise Anslow,
Jessica Stones, Siva, Ronnie and all the others too numerous to mention.
However special commiserations must be given to Amanda
Dingley who had to drop out due to her recurring back problem, much to her
disappointment.
It was another successful picnic in the park that was
thoroughly enjoyed by all.
