Jo
Takes On The CrocodileJo Jones, one of Dudley Ladies
long list of intrepid explorers writes:-
After the London Marathon I fancied
something a little bit different and the Crocodile 8 mile
multi-terrain run sounded more than just a leisurely jog round the
countryside.
It took place in Tillington near
Hereford on a very wet Sunday 25th May.
Luckily the rain did stop for the
start of the race, but unfortunately started again just as we left
the road for the orchard fields. The fields were bumpy and I was
hoping it wouldn't get any worse as I am accustomed to the road.
I was wrong. Next came ploughed
fields which, with the rain, were just thick mud. Then it was steep
hillside covered in mud. In parts the mud was ankle deep. Everyone
was sliding and falling, even those with running spikes. I slipped
over twice but was helped by a nice gentleman from Walsall. The
final obstacle was yet to come. THE CROCODILES BACK. Over a hundred
steep steps, covered in mud.
It was a lovely sight to see the
finish line and I was glad to find out that there was still forty
more runners to come in."
